Today is Sunday, normally we would go to Christian church but since we are in foreign country, we opted for any church as long as we get in touch with the Word. Well, we decided to attend mass at St Mary's Cathedral around 8:30 AM. Then we headed back home to prepare today's trip.
We just can't get enough of Darling Harbour so we made a return trip. But now, we took the route via Market Street. Time check is 10:30 AM. We passed by several beautiful buildings along the way including the Hyde Park Barracks Museum, St. James Church and the Supreme Court. As we all know, Australia was a penal colony of England when it was still under British rule. One remnant of the past that we visited was the The Hyde Park Barracks. It was built in 1819 to house, clothe and feed convict men and boys. Amazingly, this building was actually designed by a convict architect Francis Greenway.
He also designed other buildings in the historical precinct of Macquarie Street, the next one which is just across the street, the St. James Church. It is an Anglican church in King Street that was consecrated on 11 February 1824. Along this area of the city we also get to see the Supreme Court.
At around past 11, we reached Darling Harbour via Market Street. Actually the train station is now closed to public for good...
Another attraction included in our 5 in 1 combo pass is the Madame Tussauds Wax Museum. The place is divided into several sections. In one section, we get to meet many world leaders including Nelson Mandela, Gandhi, Queen Elizabeth and Barack Obama.
The next section we saw several athletes, sadly we don't know who they really are but we still happily take photos with them.
There is also one section of famous musicians like Michael Jackson, Lady Gaga and more. Go take photograph with them.
There is also one section of comic characters like Spiderman, Wolverine, and
Ironman. In this museum, you will also meet different well known
scientist, newscaster, tv host and more.
Then in one hall is the star-studded Hollywood stars like Hugh Jackman, Jackie Chan, Leonardo
DiCaprio, Nicole Kidman and many more.
Before leaving, we took one last picture with Johnny Depp who was at the entrance area.
We just realize posing with celebrities can also be very tiring and can make you hungry so we decided to have our lunch first before continuing with the tour. Besides the tourist attractions, there are also alot of restaurants in the area. We were looking around and Nick's Bar and Grill Cafe which offers 13 AUD set meal promo caught our attention, but there is actually +5 AUD on weekends...hehe... We ordered steak and also fish and chips.
After lunch we continued the tour towards The Rocks. Along the way, we went inside the Customs House. It is another historic landmark located in the city's Circular Quay area. It actually served as the headquarters of the Customs Service until 1990 and now is the occupied by the City of Sydney Library. We took a short break and made use of its free WiFi.
Before proceeding to The Rocks, we first took another set of photos of the Sydney Opera House this time from the different angle. There are also street performances around the bay...
Finally we reach our destination, the Rocks. It features a variety of souvenir and craft shops, as well as many themed and historic pubs. It also has many beautiful buildings and while walking we see different street performers, singers and others with their own musical instruments.
After taking pictures and strolling around a bit, we headed towards Mrs Macquarie's Chair for the best view of Sydney Opera House and Sydney Harbour Bridge together. Unfortunately, the park closes at 5:30 PM and we were asked to leave before we even reach there. :( So we decided to take sunset photo before heading to King's Cross.
We now proceed to our last stop for today, King's Cross. Popularly known as a red light district, that didn't stop us from exploring a different side of Sydney. The place has lots of hotels and backpackers inn. When in King's Cross, you shouldn't miss taking picture of the large Coca-Cola signboard that is brightly light up at night. We have then decided to also have our dinner here, our menu for tonight German sausages from Pommes Fritz.
