This event wasn't memorable because I have won. But because of the experience I've earned and most importantly the friendships I've made.

Four months ago, an announcement for Gemalto got talent was made. I excitedly searched and suggested talents that my team mates could perform but all of them were rejected.

One sand art video at YouTube caught my attention, I wanted to learn how she does it but I could hardly even draw. Then God tapped my shoulders and said: "Child, you were praying for a changed in your lifestyle, why not try this?". I gathered the materials to start. I took a step further, I promised myself to join the audition if I can draw a human image. The deadline for submission ended before I even start practicing. Luckily my persistent Father gave me another chance, rec club extended the deadline. My impulsive self took this opportunity as a sign and motive to pursue this art learning.

Weeks passed by I could draw the usual landscapes whenever I have pen and paper in my hand. And I was able to include human image during my audition. I felt accomplished eventhough it was very raw.

Two weeks later, a congratulating email states that I have a month to practice for finals. It was very unexpected that I needed to read a few times to convince myself that it wasn't a hoax. It was during this crucial moments, I drew strength from the efforts and support that my team showed me. I needed to deliver a good performance or else their time and efforts will be wasted.

I came up with a few themes unfortunately my committee felt it was crappy. I blurted out of nowhere: "How about titanic sand art ?". Who would have thought that this is what we were looking for. This was again God's sign, I felt it too. So we decided to stick with this for the last two weeks of intensive practice of at least four hours a night until the final day.

Finally came Nov 4, 2011, this is the make or break day. Surprisingly I wasn't so nervous on that day. I knew we have given our all and the rest I surrender to God. All contestants were good, I just sat and prayed that everything goes as rehearsed. I heard the cheers of the crowd after my performance, I am glad they enjoyed it. I was shaking as I went back to my table. It wasn't because I was nervous, rather I could hardly control the joy and excitement of fulfilling a dream. And it is all thanks to everyone.

Let me take this opportunity to mention a few people: HS - the best QC king for being very honest and straightforward. YH - for the box, light, comments. Ben - I love your dramatic colorful lights and the time and effort for countless music revisions. My family, team and friends for the support and prayers. And thanks to Esther for recording the video :)

And remember, everyone has sleeping talents and/or talents to be honed. Time to discover your own...  Commit to the Lord whatever you do, and your plans will succeed (Psalms 16:3)

After the grand opening of the Boardwalk last end of January, Sentosa transforms into an incredible floral wonderland filled with brilliant colors, textures and sweet scents from the season. Sentosa Flowers 2011 is themed “Spring Wonderland” (奇幻花屿世界). It is open from Feb3 – Feb13.

The boardwalk opening is just perfect. You can now travel into Sentosa on foot via the Sentosa Boardwalk. It’s a leisurely stroll from VivoCity Shopping Mall’s waterfront promenade, made easy by two-way canopy-covered travellators. For me, the Sentosa Boardwalk is an exciting Sentosa Experience, while enhancing the seamless accessibility and connectivity between the island and the mainland. It is a boardwalk with tropical landscapes while enjoying a panoramic view of the bay as you travel on foot in the comfort of canopy-covered travellators before arriving at the Sentosa Visitor Centre. And guess what?! You only pay $1 entrance fee when you get to Sentosa through boardwalk or you may use you EZ-link card to escape from queing.
Sentosa Flowers 2011 blends a whimsical fairy-tale world with traditional Zodiac characters.

Aside from that there are also events at The Forum from Feb2 – Feb17 every 2:30pm and 8:30pm. Performances that audiences would enjoy are: All girls crystal Chinese orchestra, Hip hop martial arts, Chinese calligraphy dance, Chinese handicrafts, Elderly shadow dance, Shaolin martial arts, Peking Diablo. I only watched the first 3 performances… :(

I was very thankful that I got the free ticket for Voyage de la Vie" (The Journey of Life) from my friend. We watched this theatrical circus show last Dec 12, 2010 at Festive Grand, Resorts World Sentosa Singapore. It is circus and magical show with storyline, music, theater effects and pyrotechnics.

“Voyage de la Vie” or the “journey of life” is a story of a boy’s metaphoric journey, or a rite of passage before he becomes an adult.

Enter the world of the mysterious Lantern Keeper, the charming Crystal Cat and the mesmerizing Diva along with extraordinary inhabitants. Explore the journey of the boy on an adventurous search to discover his destiny. An unforgettable experience of magnificent sets, glamorous costumes and amazing circus feats awaits…

A circus theatre spectacular, the story is told through song and dance, combining with the energy, physicality and athleticism of circus arts, resulting in a contemporary cutting edge performance art form which fully engages the senses and keeps audiences on the edge of their seats. The first circus theatre spectacular ever to be created in Singapore, it presents an international cast of circus stars brought together from 16 countries.

For me, the show is magnificent. To mention there were jokes, hand balancing, juggling, magic show (body was cut into half, still wondering how this trick was executed), piano playing, contortion, arrow shooting (scary), etc…

I would love to watch the show again if I got free ticket :D
